Operation Guide

Understanding Your Measurements

EcoQube Apex begins collecting measurements after it is powered on.

  • The Home device card in the Ecosense App updates approximately every 10 minutes while Apex is online.
  • The app chart displays its first hourly data point after approximately one hour of operation.
  • Longer monitoring periods provide a better picture of typical radon exposure than a single short-term reading.

Radon Measurement Units

  • pCi/L — Picocuries per liter
  • Bq/m³ — Becquerels per cubic meter

1 pCi/L = 37 Bq/m³

Understanding Radon Status

The Ecosense App and EcoQube Apex LED may categorize radon levels as Good, Moderate, or High. Applicable thresholds may depend on your country or region. Follow the radon action guidance applicable to your area.

Why Radon Levels Change

Radon can fluctuate naturally based on:

  • Weather and seasonal shifts
  • Barometric pressure changes
  • Indoor and outdoor temperature differences
  • Soil conditions
  • HVAC operation and ventilation
  • Open windows or doors
  • Building pressure differences

Keep monitoring long-term trends rather than relying on a single short-term reading.

Temperature, Humidity & Pressure

Temperature: Changes in temperature can affect airflow and pressure differences within a building.

Humidity: Humidity provides additional context about indoor environmental conditions.

Barometric Pressure: Changes in atmospheric pressure may affect how soil gas enters a building.

Environmental readings provide context around radon trends, but they do not independently indicate whether radon levels are safe.

Wi-Fi & Cloud Synchronization

When EcoQube Apex is connected to Wi-Fi:

  • Measurement data is automatically uploaded to the cloud.
  • Current readings appear in the Ecosense App.
  • Historical data becomes available in app charts.

During a Wi-Fi interruption:

  • Measurement data is not uploaded to the cloud.
  • Data is not stored on EcoQube Apex and cannot be recovered.
  • New readings will not appear in the Ecosense App.
  • When Wi-Fi is restored, EcoQube Apex automatically reconnects to the saved network and begins uploading new measurement data from that point forward.
Tip: Do not reset Apex for a temporary internet interruption. A Device Reset clears saved Wi-Fi and Matter setup and requires reconfiguration.

Setup, Power & Reset Behavior

Pairing Window Timeout

When EcoQube Apex is powered on for the first time, it remains in Pairing Mode for approximately 15 minutes. If setup is not completed during this time, Bluetooth turns off, Apex is no longer discoverable in the Ecosense App, and the LED turns off. To make Apex discoverable again for Ecosense App setup, press and hold the SET button for approximately 5 seconds.

Power Reconnection

  • EcoQube Apex restarts automatically.
  • Saved Wi-Fi settings remain intact.
  • EcoQube Apex reconnects to the saved Wi-Fi network when available.
  • The LED displays the current device status.
  • Bluetooth does not automatically turn back on after power is restored.
