What is the service life of the EcoBlu?
EcoBlu is expected to have a service life of 5 years but this depends on usage conditions, wear and tear, etc.
What does the EcoBlu package come with?
EcoBlu package includes the EcoBlu unit along with a power adapter.
What is the operating temperature range of EcoBlu?
The operating temperature range of RadonEye is 32°F ~ 104°F and Relative Humidity < 80%.
Where should I place the device?
Place EcoBlu at least 20 inches (50 cm) above the floor and from the wall. Do not place EcoBlu close to open windows or vents and keep it away from high heat and high humidity. Install at least 24 inches (61 cm) away from Wi-Fi routers and hotspot devices that may affect electromagnetic interference (EMI) on your device.
How often does the device need to be calibrated?
The calibration is not required by law for consumer devices, but our manufacturer initially calibrated EcoBlu. Also, EcoBlu is expected to have a service life of 5 years but this depends on usage conditions, wear tear, etc.
How to factory reset the device?
Press the M button on the back of the device for 10 seconds to enter the factory reset mode. A factory reset will erase data from your device and reset device settings to its original system state.
I suddenly see high radon reading, what should I do?
Please make sure if you Install the device at least 24 inches (61 cm) away from Wi-Fi routers and hotspot devices that may affect electromagnetic interference (EMI) on your device. If this is not the case, you may want to check if your device works well by running the test outside, for example, on the patio or backyard. Place your device avoiding direct sunlight and soil blown in the wind, when it’s not rainy or stormy. Also, place it 20 inches away from the floor or ground and the walls. You must keep it running for over an hour. If radon levels go over 1pCi/L, your device could be defective. Please contact the Ecosense support team.
Is EcoBlu certified?
No, EcoBlu is not certified and the certification is not required by law for consumer devices.
Does this monitor have an audible alarm if the radon levels are high?
Yes, EcoBlu has an audio alarm and you can adjust the settings. You can turn on or off the alarm by clicking the S button on the back of the device. Press the S button for 3 seconds to enter the setting mode, then click the S button again to select alarm level. After selecting the alarm level setting, click the M button to select the desired alarm level. Press the S button for 3 seconds to complete the setting.
I see various radon levels, what should I do?
Radon levels tend to fluctuate (changes in weather, wind from open windows, humidity, etc.), so the recommended action is to monitor the radon level continuously for at least 90 days. This will give you the most accurate assessment of the radon levels in your home. Please refer to the EPA testing guidelines. Radon measurement equipment is required to be located 20 inches away from the floor. It is necessary to install the equipment on a chair or table made of a material other than stone or soil and to keep it away from the wall or window as well.
Radon level fluctuates throughout the day. Does this monitor show the historic hour by hour readings?
Device updates radon reading every 10 minutes on R mode. Also provide an average of daily, weekly, monthly and an average of all previous measurement time.
What are considered safe ranges for radon?
EPA recommends homes be fixed if the radon level is 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter) or more. Because there is no known safe level of exposure to radon, EPA also recommends that Americans consider fixing their home for radon levels between 2 pCi/L and 4 pCi/L.
How long is the data stored for long-term monitoring mode?
The memory in EcoBlu will hold a maximum of 1 year of radon readings. After 1 year, the oldest data will be deleted.
What is the difference between each mode?
- R (Real-time monitoring mode):
Default mode when the device is first powered on and radon reading updates every 10 minutes with an hourly moving average. If the device powers off, reading will be automatically reset. - D (Daily monitoring mode):
Radon reading updates every hour with the last 24 hours of moving average. First data is available after 24 hours of data points have been collected. If the device powers off, reading will be automatically reset. - W (Weekly monitoring mode):
Radon reading updates every 24 hours with the last 7 days of moving average. First data is available after 7 days of data points have been collected. If the device powers off, reading will be automatically reset. - M (Monthly monitoring mode):
Radon reading updates every 24 hours with the last 30 days of moving average. First data is available after 30 days of data points have been collected. If the device powers off, reading will be automatically reset. - L (Long-term monitoring mode):
Radon reading updates every 24 hours with total days averaged since monitoring began. First data is available after 24 hours of data points have been collected. If the device powers off and on, the last reading will be displayed and radon readings will not be deleted until the device is manually reset.
What is the return and refund policy?
We offer returns and refunds within 30 days of the original purchase date. You will be responsible for paying the postage/shipping fees for returning your device. If the device is determined to be defective, you will receive a full refund, and the return shipping fees will be refunded to you by Ecosense.
Am I going to lose data if a power outage happens?
Readings are automatically reset in real-time(R), weekly(W) and monthly(M) mode when the device is powered off. However, in long-term monitoring mode, the last reading will be displayed and radon readings will not be deleted until the device is manually reset.
What happens to saved data if I decide to move the device to another room?
When you move the device and start measuring in a different location, the device resets in R, W, and M modes, and you can get new readings. However, since data is continuously saved in long-term monitoring mode, it is recommended to reset the data before starting measurements after moving to another location.
